South Asia Studies Major
A major in South Asia Studies requires nine South Asia Studies or South Asia Studies related units, including completion of Intermediate Hindi-Urdu, or demonstration of advanced proficiency in a South Asian language, at least two units in the humanities, and at least two units in the social sciences. Two units may be at the 100-level; at least two must be at the 300-level (excluding 350).
Graduating with Honors
Honors is granted to majors who research, write, and defend an honors thesis. Admission to the honors program requires a grade point average of at least 3.5 in work in the major above the 100-level; the department may petition for an exception to this college policy for students with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.5.
