The Group Fitness Instructor Training program course is designed to provide students the tools and preparation to pass an accredited exam to become a Certified Group Fitness Instructor. The course will have both classroom learning and experiential practicum for students to feel comfortable leading a class. One class per week will be in the classroom and one class a week will be in a dance studio setting. The in-classroom course materials will cover exercise science, exercise programming, motivation techniques, music selection, safety considerations and coaching skills. The experiential material will have students learning various forms of warm ups, cool downs, stretches, leading classes and practicing teaching various modalities of group fitness instruction. Students will learn how to instruct a class from warm ups, to sequence structure to proper cool down and stretching. Upon completion, students will have covered the foundational material necessary to take an ACE group fitness instructor exam.
